DES MOINES, Iowa -- The UNO women's tennis team kicked off the 2012-13 season at the Drake Fall Invitational last weekend.
Freshman Molly Matricardi led the Mavericks, rallying from an early loss to win the “B” flight singles bracket by defeating Haley Dekkings of Northern Illinois 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-7.
Senior Lindsay Weideman finished second in her bracket of the “C” flight singles, falling short to Creighton's Sam Anderson, 6-1, 6-1. In round robin play, junior Adrienne Benson also took second in her singles bracket to Amanda Dick of Drake, who won the final match 6-4, 7-5.
The Mavericks continue their fall season at the Omaha Collegiate Invite on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. at Koch Tennis Center.
