EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Freshman Katie Kesti again posted the low round of the day for the Omaha women's golf team, leading the Mavericks to third place at the SIUE Intercollegiate at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.
The Mavs finished with a team score of 673 after a rainy final round at the Sunset Hills Country Club. Southern Illinois won the event with a 36-hole team score of 641. Lipscomb finished second at 662.
Kesti, who shot a team-best 80 in Monday's opening round, fired an 83 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 163, good for fifth overall in the field of 60 golfers. Brooke Thilges and Melyssa Doerr tied for second in scoring for UNO and 18th overall with two-day scores of 170. Thilges shot 85 in round two while Doerr had an 84.
Elizabeth Havekost was fourth for the Mavs. She too fired an 84 in round two to finish at 171, good for a tie for 21st. Sophie Peters rebounded from a tough round on Monday to shoot 84 in the final round to finish at 179.
The Mavericks next play on Sunday in the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational at South Dakota State.
