Karhoff Honored As Academic All-League

OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior center John Karhoff was one of five men's basketball players selected to the 2012-13 Summit League Academic All-League Team, the conference office announced Tuesday. The teams were voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives and Sports Information Directors of the league's nine member institutions, and student-athletes were chosen for the honor based on their academic and athletic performances this season.
Karhoff's inclusion on the team marks Omaha men's basketball's first academic all-league pick as a member of the Summit League. A native of Omaha and a product of Creighton Prep, Karhoff has been a three-year starter at center. He averaged 12.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game as a junior in UNO's first year as a member of the Summit League.
Karhoff carries a 3.64 grade-point average with a journalism major and physical education minor, and he is a member of the UNO Dean's List.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
