Mavs Capture 6-1 Win at Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Omaha women's tennis team tallied a 6-1 win over Valparaiso on Saturday at The Courts of NWI. With the win, the Mavericks improved to 5-10, while Valpo dropped to 1-16.
Omaha started off by seizing the doubles point, with Alex Tran and Lindsay Weideman at No. 1 (8-4), Molly Matricardi and Tiffany Hottman at No. 2 (8-3) and Jacqueline Baude and Rachel Pierson at No. 3 (8-0).
Singles competition saw Tran win in straight sets over Kristin Zakiewicz, 6-3, 6-0. Baude followed up at No. 3 over Michele Fredlake, 6-1, 6-1, and Hottman triumphed over Megan Barthels, 6-0, 6-3, in the No. 4 slot. Pierson notched a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Laren Kammerer at No. 5, and Weideman rounded it out with a default win at No. 6 over Aubree Zdanovec.
The Mavericks cap the weekend on Sunday, April 7, facing Chicago State at 7 a.m in Chicago, Ill.
