Mavs Pick Up Memphis Transfer Neville
May 31, 2013 | General, Women's Soccer
OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's soccer team has added Courtney Neville, a transfer from Memphis, to the squad for the upcoming 2013 season. Neville, a 5-5 midfielder, will be eligible to compete immediately.
A native of Oakdale, Minn., Neville spent one season at Memphis and played in three games as a center midfielder as a freshman. The Tigers were 10-8-1 overall with a 6-4-1 record in Conference USA.
Before Memphis, Neville attended Tartan High School in Oakdale (just outside the Twin Cities) and was the team captain and MVP as a senior in 2011-12, leading the Titans to the Section 4AA Tournament. Neville was an all-conference and Section 4AA All-Tournament Team pick, and she played in the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association Senior Classic. Neville earned all-conference honors as a junior and honorable mention as both a sophomore and freshman. She also was named Tartan's best offensive player as a freshman on varsity.
Neville played club soccer for Minnesota Thunder Academy, the same club as incoming UNO freshman Lauren Lawler. Neville's team won the state championship twice and was a finalist two other times. It also won the Elite Clubs National League four straight years from 2009-12.
"We are pleased to be able to add a player of Courtney's caliber," Head Coach Don Klosterman said. "Courtney wanted to play a little closer to home and we were excited she enjoyed her visit to the UNO campus and felt at home here."
Neville joins another transfer, Chelsi Rohloff (Nebraska), and five true freshmen as newcomers to the Mavericks this fall.
