OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's soccer team battled back from one-goal deficits twice but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to the Creighton Bluejays at Morrison Stadium Friday night.

The Mavericks (2-5-1) and Bluejays (7-2) played an entertaining back-and-forth game in front of 1,678 fans - the largest crowd in CU women's soccer history. Creighton's Kelsey O'Donnell scored her second goal of the match in the 61st minute to give the Bluejays a 3-2 lead and their seventh straight win.

However, the Mavericks made sure the Jays' victory didn't come easy. After Lauren Sullivan opened the scoring for CU in the 23rd minute, Nyoke Dumba tied the match in the 40th minute. Courtney Neville played a long pass ahead to Dumba, who finished for her first career goal.

Unfortunately for the Mavs, their momentum was short-lived. Creighton scored just 40 seconds later when O'Donnell scored on a header off of a free kick. The Jays took the 2-1 lead into the break.

After halftime, the Mavs made things interesting in the 52nd minute with yet another equalizer. After Creighton failed to clear a UNO corner kick, Monica Bosiljevac scored her second goal of the season to make it 2-2. Chelsi Rohloff earned the assist on the goal.

But Creighton's O'Donnell put the Mavs on their heels again in the 61st minute when she one-touched a shot from eight yards out past Omaha goalie Meaghan Clark to make it 3-2.

The Jays finished with a 23-11 edge in shots and 11-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Mavericks had three corner kicks to two for the Bluejays. Clark finished with eight saves.

Omaha has a quick turnaround as they host Missouri State on Sunday at Noon at the UNO Soccer Field.
