Northern Colorado Races Past Omaha, 191-109

GREELEY, Colo. – Omaha swimming & diving continued its road trip in Colorado Monday night, falling to Northern Colorado 191-109 at Butler-Hancock Pool. The Mavs took four of the 16 total events, headlined by two event victories apiece for Natalie Renshaw and Morgan Stepp.
Renshaw, a junior, got things started in the 50 free, clocking in with a season-best time (24.11). The Millard North product also posted the top time in the 100 free (53.24), and she finished second in the 100 back, three-tenths of a second shy of the top spot (59.69).
Stepp, a sophomore, took crowns in the 200 breast (2:27.39) and the 400 IM (4:38.27). She also placed second in the 200 fly (2:09.75).
Junior diver Miranda Knipfer had a pair of top-two finishes in the 3-meter and 1-meter dives. In 3-meter, the Millard South grad posted a score of 251.25, and in the 1-meter, she scored a 233.70.
Additionally, freshman Kaitlin Harthoorn took second in the 500 free (5:27.33), while senior Jenna Foiles claimed second in the 100 fly (1:00.07).
The foursome of Renshaw, Stepp, Foiles and junior Hannah Johnson posted a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay (4:05.36). The quartet of Foiles and freshman Logan Back, Calli Yancey and Olivia McLain took the second spot in the 800 free relay race (8:09.47).
"I was very impressed with our effort, considering we just spent four days training in altitude,” head coach Todd Samland said. “This was an exceptional trip for us and a great team bonding experience as well.”
Omaha gets back in the pool on Friday, Oct. 24 at Nebraska-Kearney. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at UNK's Cushing Pool.
