Mavericks Sweep Past Nebraska Wesleyan

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Friday night, beating in-state rival Nebraska Wesleyan 7-0. UNO is now 1-3 (0-0 Summit League), while the Prairie Wolves drop to 0-1.
The Mavericks dominated from the beginning, winning all three doubles matches for the doubles point. At No. 3 doubles, junior Jaqueline Baude and freshman Kenzie Hill teamed up for an 8-0 victory over Addie Litterick and Jaime Bridges. Also for UNO, senior Alex Tran and freshman Hylan Miller picked up an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while sophomores Tiffany Hottman and Molly Matricardi teamed up for an 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles.
UNO continued to control the match, sweeping all six singles matches. At No. 2 singles, Miller picked up her first singles win of the season, beating Hannah Husmann 6-0, 6-0. Another strong match for the Mavs was at No. 5 singles, where senior Lindsay Weideman secured a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Litterick.
Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 3, traveling to Northern Iowa. The match is slated for a 3 p.m. start in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
