Mavs Push Past St. Thomas, 5-4

Miami Gardens, Fla. - The Omaha men's tennis team broke a six match losing streak with a 5-4 win at St. Thomas (Fla.) on Saturday morning. The win improves Omaha's record to 5-8 overall while St. Thomas drops to 2-10.
The match was completed under NAIA rules, with each doubles match counting as one point towards the team match.
Omaha was victorious in two of the three doubles matches, before splitting the singles matches with STU three apiece.
Adam Dockery and Eric McKnight got things rolling for the Mavs with an 8-6 win over Juan Bravo and Grover Ordonez at No. 1 doubles. Tyler Mercier and Nathan Greteman would then pick up a No. 2 doubles win 8-5 over Nicolas Etienne and Jamie Spruill before James McManus and Erik Anderson fell 8-6 at No. 3.
Singles action saw Mercier defeat Etienne, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 while McManus picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Anderson then clinched the match for the Mavs with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Arturo Romero at No. 6 singles.
Omaha will continue their spring break road trip with three matches in two days. The Mavs will play at Barry University (Fla.) on Monday at 3 p.m. before squaring off against Miami (Fla.) twice on Tuesday.
