Mavericks Get Swept by Panthers, 7-0

The Mavs got off to a slow start, losing all three doubles matches and the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, senior Alex Tran and freshman Hylan Miller lost to Carlotta Orlando and Valentina Briceno, 8-4. No. 2 saw sophomores Tiffany Hottman and Molly Matricardi lose to Nina Nagode and Tina Mohorcic 8-2, while junior Jacqueline Baude and freshman Kenzie Hill lost 8-0 to Giulietta Boha and Aleks Trifunovic at No. 3.
FIU's run continued, as all six singles matches were won in straight sets. Fighting hard at No. 3 singles for UNO was Matricardi, who dropped a close one 6-2, 7-6 (8-6). At No. 6, Hottman fell to Briceno, 6-2, 6-4. And at No. 2 singles, Miller lost to Trifunovic 6-2, 6-2.
The Mavs return to action on April 4, when they face offagainst Western Illinois in Summit League play. The match is scheduled for an 8 a.m.start in Fort Wayne, Ind.
