Da Silva Wins Summit League Defensive Weekly Award

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha senior Felipe da Silva was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, the league office announced.
Felipe da Silva collected his third career accolade and first of the season after anchoring an Omaha defense in a 1-0 shutout road victory. Against Kansas City, da Silva played all 90 minutes and led a defensive effort that yielded just eight shots in the match. The Mavs defense held the Kangaroos to only two shots on goal, neither of which came during the second half, while preserving the shutout.
Omaha travels to Fullerton, Calif., for a pair of games this weekend. On Friday, September 19, the Mavericks play 24th rated Cal State Northridge at 9 p.m. UNO will play Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, September 21 at 3 p.m.
