Omaha to Host Creighton in Omaha Derby

The Omaha women's soccer team hosts in town rival Creighton this weekend. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. kick-off on Sunday, September 21 at Caniglia Field.
The Teams
Omaha (2-5, 0-0 Summit League) is coming off a 0-2 weekend in Colorado. The Mavericks lost a neutral site game in Fort Collins to the College of Charleston, 1-0, on Friday, Sept. 12. Haley Shelton would finish with four saves as the Mavericks led in shots, 13-8. Chelsi Rohloff led the team with four shots. Layla Ashouri and Lydia Holtmann each had two shots. On Sunday, UNO was defeated by Northern Colorado, 4-1, in Greeley, Colo. Rohloff leads the team with four goals and one assist for nine points. Anna Sibson and Lydia Holtmann each have two goals and three assists for four points. Hannah Wampler and Ali Engler each have goals this year. Haley Shelton is 1-3 on the season with 17 saves and a .680 save percentage. Katlyn Schochenmaier is 1-1 with 15 saves and a .750 save percentage.
Creighton (7-0-0, 0-0 Big East) has won seven straight matches to start the season. Last weekend, the Blue Jays won two road games in the Dakotas. On Friday, Creighton defeated North Dakota 3-0 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. On Sunday, the Jays defeated the University of South Dakota 3-1 in Vermillion, South Dakota. Alyssa Jara leads Creighton with five goals and two assists. Kirstyn Corder has 11 points on five goals and an assist. Danielle Rice is a perfect 7-0 in goal with a 0.88 goals against average and has made 37 saves on the season.

Omaha and Creighton meet for the sixth time on Sunday afternoon. The Mavericks trail in the all-time series 1-4 and have lost two straight.

GREELEY, Colo. – The Omaha Mavericks women's soccer team was defeated by Northern Colorado, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon in Greeley, Colo.
Northern Colorado (4-4) scored the only goal of the first half in the 20th minute. Juliana Grover beat Omaha keeper Haley Shelton for the game's first goal. Omaha had a chance to even the game in the 35th minute of the opening half. Marquette Pick had her shot blocked away at the last moment by UNC keeper Kaitlin Ruff.
Omaha (2-5) came out on the attack to start the second half. Chelsi Rohloff scored the Mavericks only goal in the 48th minute. Layla Ashouri played a perfect through ball to Rohloff who placed the ball past the keeper for her fourth goal of the year. Paige Morris put Northern Colorado back on top, 2-1, in the 62nd minute off an assist from Kassy Castillo. Rebecca Lancia would score in the 66th and 88th minute to finish off the scoring for the Bears.
Omaha got off 14 shots, seven on goal, in the loss. Marquette Pick led the team with three shots. Haley Shelton took the loss in goal for the Mavericks. Shelton faced 14 shots and made four saves.
