Mavs In Front After First Day at Grinnell Invite

GRINNELL, Iowa ? The Omaha swimming & diving team returned to competition Friday night after taking a lengthy training break over the holidays. The Mavs currently sit in first place with 514 points after the first day of events at the Grinnell Invite.
UNO was led by junior Natalie Renshaw who took the top spot in two events. The Omaha native finished with the top times in the 200 IM (2:08.43) and the 200 breast (2:28.13).
Senior Jenna Foiles led the pack with a personal season-best time in the 500 free (5:12.54). Freshman Cassie Jahn finished in second in the event, touching the wall just after Foiles at 5:14.94.
Omaha jumped off to a hot start on the day when the 200 free relay quartet of Foiles, Renshaw, sophomore Morgan Stepp and freshman Baylee Kniep brought home a victory in the very first event (1:38.85).
Stepp also placed second in the 100 back, finishing with a personal season-best time of 59.33.
Omaha closes out the Grinnell Invite tomorrow at the Charles Benson Bear Recreation and Athletic Center. Preliminary heats start up at 11 a.m. with the finals slated to go at 6 p.m.
