Bullpen Banter: Long Time, No See

It's been a while since my last post. Between summer ball, school, fall ball and life I just could not find time to keep up. Now that it's officially baseball season though, I'll be posting at least once a week to keep our loyal fans updated on everything happening with your two-time (going for three-time…) defending Summit League regular-season champs.
Here's a brief update on what's happened since we last chatted: My teammates and I returned from our respective summer leagues in mid-August. The coaches usually give us one to two weeks after classes start to get settled in and recover from a long, demanding summer. Following that, we hit the field hard for fall ball, which includes fundamental drills during the week and weekend intrasquad scrimmages. The Red-Grey World Series signals the end of fall ball in late October, and this year, the Red squad prevailed.
For as great as the weather has been in Omaha for most of the winter, this last week of snow really messed with us. Because of the colder temperatures this time of year, we are forced to practice inside – the Chili Greens Dome is our home away from home in the winter months. But due to the heavy snowfall last week, the inflatable dome was out of service, so we made due with the facilities we could access. The pitchers used Sapp Fieldhouse to throw, while the position guys headed west to StrikeZone to get their swings in.
Amazingly though, we won't have to worry about the weather this week, as we're off to the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix on Thursday to take on Bradley, Grand Canyon and North Dakota State in the GCU Classic. As the 2015 season commences this weekend, it's worth noting that the Summit League coaches picked Omaha as the conference favorite for second straight year in the preseason poll. We believe and certainly expect to win the Summit League title again this year – our team has confidence every time we step on the field to compete. The 2015 season will be a fun year of Omaha Baseball and we hope to see you out at the park sometime!
