Hansen Signs Transfers Hahn, Hollins for 2015-16

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha men's basketball program has signed transfers Mitchell Hahn and Tra-Deon Hollins to National Letters of Intent for the 2015-16 season, head coach Derrin Hansen announced Wednesday.
MITCHELL HAHN
F - 6-8 - 205 - Fremont, Neb. (Fremont/Holy Cross)
Hahn, a native of Fremont, joins the Mavericks after one season at Holy Cross, where he averaged 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game and shot .447 from the field. Previously a standout for coach Mark Williams at Fremont High School, he served as team captain and averaged 18.7 points and 10.8 rebounds as a senior. Hahn was selected as the Nebraska Player of the Year by Gatorade and the Nebraska Basketball Coaches Association in 2014, and he was named first-team all-state that season. Hahn was also an honorable mention all-state pick in his sophomore and junior years, and he led Fremont to the HAC Tournament championship in 2013.
Due to NCAA transfer rules, Hahn will sit out the 2015-16 season for the Mavericks.
"We're excited that Mitchell has chosen to continue his playing career closer to home after a coaching change at Holy Cross," Hansen said. "After a solid freshman season there, it will be nice to have his experience on our roster in two years, as we lose six seniors after 2015-16."
TRA-DEON HOLLINS
G - 6-2 - 190 - Omaha, Neb. (Omaha Central/Central CC/Chipola College)
Hollins, who hails from Omaha, comes to UNO after beginning his career at Central Community College and Chipola College. At Central CC in Columbus, Hollins was part of the Raider squad that qualified for the 2014 NJCAA Division II National Tournament, and he averaged 17.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game, alongside a nation-leading 4.1 steals per contest. At Chipola, he averaged 13.6 points, 4.1 boards and 6.6 assists per game.
Hollins was previously a first-team All-Nebraska selection for coach Eric Behrens at Omaha Central High School, where he was part of four straight Class A state championship teams and a teammate of freshman Tre'Shawn Thurman. Hollins was a two-team first-team all-state and All-Metro selection, and he averaged 12.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a senior.
"Tra-Deon is the ultimate competitor," Hansen said. "He has won everywhere he's played, which is a trait we like in our recruits. Tra-Deon is a tremendous defensive player, and he has the ability to score yet make teammates around him better. We're happy that he has decided to finish his college career back home in Omaha."
