Mavs Picked Fifth in Summit Preseason Poll

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the Summit League Preseason Poll released on Thursday. The poll is voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Mavericks received 34 points. The Mavericks return 11 starters and 18 letterwinners from last season's 5-12-2 squad.
Denver was selected as the favorite to capture The Summit League's women's soccer title with 62 points and six first-place votes. South Dakota State, which captured the league's regular and post season titles last season, was picked second with 59 points and three first-place votes.
North Dakota State came in third with 44 points, while IUPUI was fourth with 40 points. Oral Roberts (32), South Dakota (23), Western Illinois (20), and Fort Wayne (10) came in sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth respectively.
Omaha returns Summit League Defensive Player of the Year senior Hannah Wampler to go with 2014 leading goal-scorer senior Chelsi Rohloff.
The Mavericks open the season with an exhibition on Thursday, Aug. 13 at Wyoming.
