
Women's Soccer Drops Exhibition Game at Wyoming, 3-2

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team opened the exhibition season with a hard-fought 3-2 loss at Wyoming Thursday afternoon.
Morgan Westenburg put Omaha up 1-0 with a goal just 3:15 into the match. Westenburg added a second goal minutes later to make the score 2-0. Wyoming's Alyssa Murray made the score 2-1 with an unassisted goal in the 37th minute.
The Cowgirls tied the match in the 52nd minute when Kimmy Burbank pushed the ball in through a scrum of UNO defenders. The hosts netted the game winner in the 73rd minute when Candace Scriberras punched in a pass from Mandy Meyer.
Haley Shelton played the first half in goal for Omaha. Shelton allowed one goal on 10 shots and made two saves. Katlyn Schochemaier played the second half allowing two goals on seven shots, while making two saves.
The Mavericks return to Omaha to host UMKC in an exhibition match on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
