
Mavs Picked Second in Summit League Preseason Poll

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team has been picked to finish second in The Summit League Preseason Poll released on Wednesday. The poll is voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Mavericks received 31 points, including two first-place votes. Last season, the Mavericks set a program record with 10 wins and earned a share of The Summit League regular season title.
Denver was chosen to finish first in the poll, receiving three first-place votes and 32 points. Western Illinois was chosen third with two first-place votes and 30 points.
Oral Roberts came in fourth with 18 points, while Fort Wayne was fifth with 15 points. IUPUI was picked sixth with 14 points and Eastern Illinois was chosen seventh with seven points. The full results of the poll are below.
Omaha returns nine starters from last season, including Summit League First Team performers Mark Moulton and Felipe da Silva. Moulton led the Summit League with 10 assists in 2014.
The Mavericks open the season on Saturday, Aug. 22 with an exhibition game against 10th-rated Washington in the South Omaha Classic at 7 p.m. The game will be played at Caniglia Field. Omaha opens regular season play on Friday, Aug. 28 against UMKC at 7:30 p.m.
