Mavs Welcome Missouri State Tuesday Night

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team concludes non-conference play Tuesday, Sept. 22 against Missouri State at 7 p.m.
Last weekend, the Mavericks split a pair of overtime games against teams from Colorado. On Friday, Sept. 18, UNO lost a heartbreaking decision in double overtime to Colorado State, 1-0. Then Sunday, Sept. 20, Omaha responded with a 1-0 overtime victory over Northern Colorado.

About Omaha
Omaha is finishing off a stretch of games that sees the Mavericks playing three games over a span of five days. Over the weekend, UNO split a pair of over time matches against Colorado State and Northern Colorado. CSU scored the game winner against the Mavs with 24 second remaining in the second overtime. Two days later, Chelsi Rohloff netted the game winner for Omaha 7:19 into the first overtime.
Tuesday's match-up with Missouri State is the final non-conference match of the season for Omaha. The Mavericks open Summit League play the first weekend in October with trips to North Dakota State and South Dakota State.
Rohloff leads the team with eight points off four goals this season. Lydia Holtmann and Marin Dregelid each have three points on a goal and an assist. Courtney Neville leads the team with two assists.
Goalkeepers Haley Shelton and Katlyn Schochenmaier have split time in goal this season for the Mavericks. Schochenmaier has appeared in seven games with four starts. She is 3-2-1 on the season with a 1.82 goals-against average and a.796 save percentage. Schochenmaier has earned two Summit League Defensive Players of the Week this season. Shelton has four starts and a 0-2-1 record with a 2.97 goals-against average and a .633 save percentage.

Series vs. MSU

The two teams played a scoreless first half. Missouri State had a 12-2 advantage in shots in the first period. Ava Doetsch had the Mavericks best scoring chance in the first half, but her shot was saved by the Missouri State keeper.
Omaha's offense came to life in the second half. Kyla Booker saw her header just sail wide in the 54th minute. Chelsi Rohloff gave UNO the lead in the 63rd minute. Rohloff tucked a shot under MSU's Laura Ketzer to give UNO a 1-0 lead. Kyla Booker was credited with the assist.
The Mavericks' lead lasted only ten minutes. Omaha was called for a foul in the penalty box, which resulted in a penalty kick for Missouri State. Molly Huber converted the penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1. The Bears' keeper kept the Mavericks from regaining the lead by making three saves in a span of 32 seconds midway through the second half. Kyla Booker and Lydia Holtmann each had shots just miss the target in the 86th minute of play. Molly Huber would score the game winner with 51 seconds left in the match for Missouri State. Huber, the ball, and UNO goalkeeper Haley Shelton all met at the near post. The ball would trickle into the goal in the scrum. The referee consulted with the lineman and deemed it a goal for the Bears.
Lydia Holtmann had a chance with 12 seconds left in the game, but saw her shot go wide.

Omaha opens Summit League play the weekend of Oct. 2-4. UNO visits North Dakota State to open league play on Friday, Oct. 2, before visiting defending Summit League champion South Dakota State on Sunday, Oct. 4.
