Mendez, da Silva Earn Post Season Academic Honors

OMAHA, Nebraska – The accolades for seniors Logan Mendez and Felipe da Silva continue to come in as both were recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-North/Central Region teams.
Da Silva was named to the Scholar All-North/Central Region 1st Team. The senior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil posted a 3.72 grade point average (GPA) while working on his Master's in Economics this season. He leaves UNO as a three-time Academic All-League selection and as a three-time first team all-conference selection. He was named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-Region team.
Mendez earned 2nd Team NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central Region honors. He maintained a 3.39 GPA while majoring in business administration. During his career, Mendez named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll three times and was named Academic All-League this season. He also was a Summit League Distinguished Scholar and on the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
To be earn a spot on the Scholar All-North/Central Region Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member.
The duo joins 20 other players on the 1st and 2nd team who were recognized for their achievements both on and off the field. Austin Gochneaur of Western Illinois earned second team honors and was the only other Summit League player named to the NSCAA Scholar All-North/Central Region teams.
This season Omaha posted a 9-6-3 overall record and a 3-2-1 Summit League mark. The Mavericks were second in the Summit League regular season standings and earned their first post-season tournament berth advancing to the league semifinals.
