Mavericks Seventh After Round One at Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team is in seventh place after the first round of the Creighton Classic on Monday.
Freshman Samantha Chong shot a team-best score of 78, six over par, and sits in a five-way tie for seventh in the field of 60 golfers.
As a group, the Mavericks shot a score of 327 over the 5,965-yard layout at Oak Hills Country Club. Western Illinois leads with a score of 311 with North Dakota and North Dakota State tied for second at 316.
Megan Vetrovsky shot 79 on the first day to put her in a tie for 12th. She's five strokes ahead of Haley Wineman who carded a round of 84 to put her in a tie for 36th.
Mandy Boyle shot 86, good for a tie for 42nd, and Morgan Miller had an 89 to put her in a tie for 49th.
Katelyn Strudthoff, playing as an individual in her first tournament of the season, shot 98.
The final round begins Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
