Women's Golf Takes Seventh at UNO Invitational

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team finished seventh at the UNO Invitational at ArborLinks on Sunday, it's first home tournament since 2011.
The Mavericks posted a 54-hole team score of 971 in their first event of the season. South Dakota State won with a score of 891, well ahead of runner up North Dakota State at 916. South Dakota was third at 934.
Megan Vetrovsky, this year's leading returning scorer, led the Mavericks with a total score of 239 that included a final round of 77, best on the team. She finished 16th.
Freshman Samantha Chong was second on the team in her first collegiate event, shooting a score of 244. She closed with a round of 89 on Sunday. She was just ahead of teammate Jordan York who closed with a 79 to finish at 248, good for 36th place.
Both Sami Langford and Mandy Boyle finished in a tie for 38th with matching scores of 250. Boyle shot 84 in the final round while Langford carded an 87.
Freshman Haley Wineman, playing as an individual, shot 250 for the tournament including rounds of 83, 81 and 86. Morgan Miller, also playing as an individual shot 86-89-83 for a score of 258.
The Mavericks are back in action at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial at Missouri State on Sept. 12-13.
