PEORIA, Ill. – The Omaha cross country team competed at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon, taking 27th in a loaded Division I field.

Willa Koenig led the way for Omaha, finishing 64th in a new personal best time of 22:16. Also registering a personal best was Emily Johnson, who finished 105th in 22:46.

Kayla Sabotin ran 23:31 and Karo Garcia ran 23:45, finishing 158th and 172nd, respectively. Rounding out the scoring five was Alyssa Averhoff in 24:07, good for 183rd.

Head Coach Chris Richardson praised Koenig and Johnson for their races.

"I was happy how Willa and Emily ran today," said Richardson. "But we also know the Summit League has some tremendous runners, and we're going to take the next two weeks to get everyone ready for a strong race at the Summit League Championship."

The Mavericks were selected in the preseason to finish fifth at the championships.

The Summit League Championships take place on Saturday October 28 in Vermillion, S.D. The race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
