Mavericks Downed by Denver, 2-0

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Denver on Sunday afternoon at Caniglia Field.
The loss dropped the Mavericks to 4-9-1 on the season and 1-3 in Summit League play, while the Pioneers moved to 7-8-1 overall and 3-2 in conference action.
Omaha had its first scoring chance in the second minute of play as Natalie Johnson took a shot from 12-yards out. Brittany Wilson, however, stopped Johnson's strike, for her only save of the half.
Denver converted a scoring chance in the 31st minute. The Pioneers got on the scoreboard as Mary Dewalt sent a ball into the penalty area from the right side. Dewalt's cross found Angelica Pacheco on the far post and Pacheco touched it toward Hannah Adler in the center of the box who knocked home the shot from six yards out.
The Pioneers added their second goal in the 90th minute. After a flurry of Omaha shots, the ball bounced to Jessie Dancy near midfield. Dancy then beat a pair of Omaha defenders and tucked her shot into the left side of the goal to make the final score 2-0.
Turning Point
Denver goalkeeper Brittany Wilson made a diving save on Susie Dineen's shot in the 89th minute to prevent the game-tying goal. Less than a minute later, Wilson stopped a shot by Abby Meader, and the Pioneer defense cleared a Bailey Cascio shot off the line.
