Omaha Tops Prairie View A&M, 4-3

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Omaha women's tennis team defeated Prairie View A&M, 4-3, on Wednesday at the Prairie View A&M Tennis Courts. Omaha improves to 4-10 (0-1 Summit League) on the season.
Omaha earned the doubles point to start the morning by taking two of the three matches. The freshmen pair of Rylee Tucker and Emily Behling defeated Sydney Thomas and Tatiana Ruhl, 6-1, at the No. 2 position to give UNO the early advantage. The Mavericks claimed the doubles point when the No. 3 pair of sophomore Kylie Boyer and senior Kenzie Hill beat Timara Maxwell and Shaddae Findley, 6-2, for a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Omaha then took three of the six singles matches to claim the 4-3 victory. At the No. 2 spot, sophomore Janelle Wilson defeated Stacy Lackey, 6-2, 6-0, and Lo took down Neharika Rama, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot to extend the lead to 3-0. Prairie View picked up its first point of the match after Behling fell to Findley, 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 4 position. The Mavericks officially clinched the match when Boyer defeated Thomas at the No. 3 spot, 7-6(3), 7-5.
“This was a great win for us today,” head coach Adam Summitt said. “It's really nice to end a long road trip like this with a win. The ladies battled through some heat again today and came out on top. This experience will help us when conference play picks up again.”
Omaha returns to action on Sunday, March 26 when it hosts Colorado State at Koch Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
