Mavericks Visit Nebraska on Saturday

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Woody Greeno Invitational hosted by Nebraska. Due to forecasted high temperatures, the meet has been moved up one hour to 9 a.m.
The Mavericks have run just once this season, taking eighth at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 1. Sophomore Willa Koenig led the Mavericks with a time of 18:50.00 while classmate Renata Valquier Chavez was second at 19:02.87.
Freshman Emily Johnson had a good debut, running a 5K personal best of 19:15.18 and finishing third on the team. She was just ahead of senior Karo Garcia who returned to action after missing last season due to military service. Garcia came in at 19:15.58.
Alyssa Averhoff completed the scoring for UNO with a time of 19:23.70.
Last year at the Greeno, Omaha took fourth overall and then-freshman Koenig cracked the top-15, coming in 12th overall at 22:53.3.
Following the meet at Nebraska, the Mavericks are back in action the following Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by Minnesota.
