Mavericks Cap Weekend at Gopher Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Omaha women's tennis team continued its fall schedule this weekend, competing at the Gopher Invitational at Baseline Tennis Center.
Freshman Savannah Crowell recorded a pair of singles wins over Summit League foes, dispatching South Dakota's Hannah Wich 7-5, 6-3, and South Dakota State's Katerina Tretyakova, 6-3, 6-4. Crowell also defeated North Dakota's Alex Revenig, 6-4, 7-5.
Junior Janelle Wilson picked up a win in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 over SDSU's Marta-Anna Tynna. Sophomore Rylee Tucker knocked out a three-set victory over Iowa State's Karen Alvarez, dropping the first set 3-6 before winning the next two, 6-3, 10-3. And sophomore Emily Behling nabbed another win, topping Daria Yakovleva from SDSU, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action, Wilson and senior Michelle Lo triumphed over Marquette's Milica Novakovic and Lesley Foe, 6-2. Wilson/Tucker defeated USD's Wich and Habiba Aly, 6-4, while Behling and classmate Clare Crockett took down Northern Iowa's Savanna Hunt and Valentina Caro, 6-4.
Omaha returns to action next weekend, playing in the Creighton Invite, Sept. 29 - Oct. 1.
