Sophomore Emily Johnson became UNO's first individual meet winner in the Division I era at the Bradley Pink Classic.
Johnson's Win Leads Mavericks at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. – Emily Johnson was the overall winner, and the Omaha cross country team tied for first at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday.
Johnson earned Omaha's first overall win in a meet in the Division I era, running the 6K course on a snowy day at the Newman Golf Course in a time of 22:00.0. The time ranked fourth-best in school history for that distance.
The sophomore has led the Mavericks in all four meets this season.
"On a day that flirted with borderline freezing conditions and flurries, our team rose to the occasion and competed at a very high level," said cross country head coach Cliff Cisar. "Emily broke away from the pack just after the first mile and didn't look back.
"The chase pack all competed well as they ran as a group through the first 4K and then began to pick up the pace," Cisar added.
"I'm very proud of the group. When the weather gets bad, athletes know that it comes down to controlling what you can control. Those who manage their minds the best compete at the highest level, and we did that today."
Johnson had plenty of company in the parade of PR's. Anita Jenkins was second on the team and sixth overall in a time of 23:14.6. Although not a PR, it was less than four seconds from equaling her best time.
Heidi Hall was third on the team and 10th overall in a time of 23:31.2. Lauren Houston was right behind, finishing in 13th place with a time of 23:35.8, and Ivanna Uribe was 15th at 23:45.3. All ran personal records.
The Mavericks tied with Missouri S&T with 36 points each in the "white" race as the large field required two different races.
The Mavericks now ready for the Summit League Championship which they are hosting at Miracle Hill Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 27 beginning at 10 a.m.
