Mavericks Fall To South Dakota In Home Finale

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha dropped a three-set match to South Dakota in the final contest at home Sunday afternoon inside Baxter Arena.

Leaders for Omaha
Sadie Limback posted a double-double of 13 kills and 15 digs, while Anna Blaschko followed with 10 kills. Sydney Case had 35 assists while Claire Mountjoy recorded 21 digs.
Notes
Omaha jumped out to a five-point lead early in the set (8-3) and led by as many as six (14-8). The Coyotes, however, went on a 5-0 spurt and cut the Maverick lead to just one (15-14). Omaha scored three straight to lead 18-14, but could not retain the lead as the Coyotes tied the match at 19-all. Tied at 21-all, South Dakota outscored the Mavericks 4-2 down the final stretch to edge Omaha and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Inside Set 2
Tied at 5-5 early on, South Dakota scored two points off a kill and an Omaha error to take a two-point lead. From there, Omaha never regained the lead and eventually fell into a six-point hole (19-13). The Mavericks were not able to recover, as the Coyotes cruised to a 25-20 victory in the second set.
Inside Set 3
The Mavericks fell into an 8-2 hole early in the third. The gap proved to be too much as the deficit increased to as many as 11 (17-6). Omaha rattled off four straight off three straight kills by Claire Leonard, but once again, the gap proved to be to monumental to overcome as the Coyotes defeated Omaha 25-16 to win in straight sets.
Looking Ahead
Omaha now sets its sights on two straight road matches to close out the regular season. The Mavericks take a trip to Macomb, Ill., at Western Illinois for a Tuesday, Nov. 6 matchup and follow up with a Sunday, Nov. 11 contest at Oral Roberts to conclude the regular season stretch.
