Mavericks Open Spring in South Carolina

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team begins its spring season at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic hosted by the College of Charleston on Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 25-27.
The massive 42-team field will play 18 holes each day beginning at 7:45 a.m. CT at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina.
The Mavericks played in five events during the fall, achieving their best finish relative to par (+79) at their own UNO Invitational to open play in September.
Senior Megan Vetrovsky led the team in scoring through the first 14 rounds with a stroke average of 79.6. She had a top 10 finish at the UNO Invitational, coming in eighth overall in the field of 55 golfers at ArborLinks.
With a strong finish to the season, Vetrovsky can cement herself as the top career scorer in UNO women's golf. Her current career average of 79.2 is just ahead of UNO Athletics Hall of Famer Tanis Hastmann Walch (80.07).
Jordan York was second in scoring for the Mavericks during the fall with a stroke average of 80.6, just ahead of Samantha Chong who was third at 81. Sami Langford and Hannah Hunke were 4-5 at 81.5 and 81.7 respectively. Mandy Boyle was right behind at 81.9. All six golfers played in 14 rounds during the fall.
The Mavericks also will play in tournaments hosted by Texas Rio Grande Valley, Northern Arizona and UMKC before taking part in the Summit League Championships at ArborLinks on April 22-24.
