Mavericks Play First Round of Spring Opener

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Omaha women's golf team is in 13th place after the first round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic on Sunday. It is the Mavericks' spring season opener.
UNO shot a team score of 327 over the first 18 holes at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. They are in 41st place in the huge 43-team field. Host College of Charleston leads the event after a first-round tally of 288, one stroke ahead of William and Mary. Murray State is third at 290.
Sami Langford led the Mavericks on day one with a five-over round of 77, good for a tie for 104th out of 218 golfers.
Jordan York is second on the team and tied for 151st overall with a score of 80 while Megan Vetrovsky shot 84 and is tied for 191st.
Mandy Boyle carded a round of 86 to sit fourth on the team and in a tie for 202nd. Hannah Hunke finished the scoring for UNO with a score of 87.
The second round of the three-day tournament will begin on Monday at 7:45 p.m. CT.
