LINCOLN, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Iowa State Sunday afternoon at Nebraska's Dillon Tennis Center. The loss moves the Mavericks to 5-6 overall, while the Cyclones improve to 7-3.

Iowa State claimed victory in two out of three doubles matches to secure the first point of the day. Omaha's No. 3 duo of Emily Behling and Marie Kapelevich out-battled Ekaterina Repina and Margarita Timakova, 7-5.

In singles competition, Behling won at No. 6 by default due to injury to Iowa State's Maty Cancini. At No. 5, Natalie Lorentz defeated Karen Alvarez, 6-1, 6-2, and Janelle Wilson battled back to pick up a win at No. 2 against Repina, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8).

"I am incredibly proud of our team today," head coach Adam Summitt said. "Iowa State is a tough opponent, and we played some of our best tennis. Even though the result didn't go our way, I'm happy with the effort and grit from our players. We know we can compete with high majors, and today was a big step to achieving that."

Omaha returns to action on Saturday, March 3 in Fort Collins, Colo., taking on Colorado State at 4 p.m. CT.
