Omaha Unveils 2018 Men’s Soccer Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha men's soccer head coach Bob Warming announced the 2018 schedule on Tuesday. The Mavericks' upcoming season includes 16 games including eight home contests at Caniglia Field.
Omaha is coming off its first Summit League Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2017. The Mavericks finished 10-6-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the Summit, good third place.
The Mavericks will face some of their toughest competition in program history with three matches against 2017 NCAA Tournament teams and two games against teams that finished in the top 25 in the final United Soccer Coaches poll. Seven of Omaha's opponents finished in the top 100 of the 2017 NCAA RPI, including two in the top 15.
"Our schedule is extremely challenging for a young team," said Warming. "It is a national schedule. Our fans are going to see us against some of the best in America.
"We certainly will need to embrace how to get results on the road in October and keep growing and developing so that we will be peaking in November."

This season's South Omaha Classic exhibition brings crosstown foe Creighton to Caniglia Field on Aug. 11.
The regular season kicks off with three straight home matches. The Mavericks host UC Davis (Aug. 24) and NCAA Tournament participant Clemson (Aug. 26) before closing with the front end of a home-and-home series with Missouri State (Aug. 31).
Omaha completes the home-and-home with the Bears by visiting Springfield, Mo., on Sept. 3. The Mavericks return home to host Utah Valley on Sept. 7 before heading west to take on UCLA on Sept. 14.
Omaha opens Summit League play at home against defending regular-season champion Denver on Sept. 22. The Mavericks then play five straight road matches starting at league foe Fort Wayne on Sept. 29.
The road stretch continues with non-conference matches against Drake (Oct. 6), NCAA Tournament qualifier SMU (Oct. 9) and Bradley (Oct. 16). The Mavericks finish the road stretch at Western Illinois on Oct. 13.
Omaha then hosts FGCU (Oct. 20) and NCAA Tournament qualifier Cal State Fullerton (Oct. 23).
The Mavericks travel to Oral Roberts on Oct. 27 before hosting Eastern Illinois in their final home match on Nov. 3.
