Mavericks Picked Seventh in Summit League Preseason Poll

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team has been picked to finish seventh in the Summit League this season, the league office announced Monday.
Denver was selected as the league's favorite after collecting six first-place votes and 61 total points. Defending regular season champion South Dakota State finished second with three first-place votes and 57 points, while Oral Roberts claimed the third spot with 49 points. North Dakota State (46) came in fourth, league newcomer North Dakota (30) was fifth and South Dakota slotted into sixth with 29 points. Omaha received 28 points for seventh place, while Purdue Fort Wayne and Western Illinois tied for eighth (12 points) to round out the poll.
Senior midfielder Emily Romero was also included on the Summit League's Player to Watch list. As a junior, Romero led the Mavericks with eight points on three goals and two assists.
Led by second-year head coach Tim Walters, the Mavericks return 14 letterwinners from their 2017 squad.
