Mavericks Seventh After Day One at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Omaha women's golf team holds down seventh place after the first two rounds of the Diane Thomason Invitational at Iowa.
The Mavericks shot team scores of 330 and 318 for a 36-hole total of 648. The host Hawkeyes lead the event with a score of 598. North Dakota State and Southern Illinois are tied for second at 623.
Freshman Zora Gittens led the Mavericks on a cold and rainy day at the Finkbine Golf Course. She shot matching rounds of 80 for a total of 160 that has her tied for 25th in the field of 55 players.
Jordan York and Sami Langford are tied for second on the team and tied for 38th overall with scores of 163. Both shot 83 in round one and came back with a card of 80 in round two. Â
Hannah Hunke and Mandy Boyle are tied for fourth on the team and 42nd overall with scores of 165. Hunke shot 84 in the first round and 81 in the second round. Boyle shot 87 over the first 18 holes but came back with a team-low round of 78.
Samantha Chong, playing as an individual, is tied with Gittens for 25th overall after shooting back-to-back rounds of 80 for a total of 160.
The final round begins Sunday at 9 a.m.
