Women's Tennis Picked Third In Summit League Preseason Poll

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Omaha women's tennis team was picked third in The Summit League Preseason Poll, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Denver was picked to finish atop the league standings with 25 votes and five first-place votes, followed by South Dakota with 20 votes and one first-place vote. Omaha tallied 16 votes, followed by North Dakota (15), Oral Roberts (8) and Western Illinois (5).
Also, the duo of senior Janelle Wilson and sophomore Natalie Lorentz were both selected to the Preseason Athletes to Watch List. Last season, Wilson garnered All-Summit recognition and earned a Summit League Player of the Week award. She totaled a 13-6 singles record and went 5-0 in conference play for doubles as a junior.
In her debut season, Lorentz tallied a 17-5 overall doubles record with a 4-1 mark in league action. She also went 14-10 in singles play as a freshman.
The Mavericks play host to Air Force on Friday, Jan. 18, and Northern Iowa on Sunday, Jan. 20, to open the season. Competition will take place at 3 p.m. and 10 a.m., respectively, at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
