Nov 7, 2019 | Men's Soccer
OMAHA, Neb. – Ed Gordon, Stevie Siy and Martin Veys were selected to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday afternoon.
This marks the second consecutive season of being named to the team for Gordon and Siy while Veys earned his first appearance on the prestigious list.
"All three of the students are amazing," said head coach Bob Warming. "Stevie not only excels in the classroom and on the field, but he also spends his time tutoring other college students. Martin has adjusted well to the American classroom setting and is making straight A's after moving here from France while Ed continues to be a great ambassador for our program and is always the first to volunteer for community service."
Gordon carries a 3.82 grade-point average in business administration while appearing in 14 matches for the Mavericks this season. The Omaha, Neb., native has started in six matches, dishing out one assist on the year.
Siy holds a 3.75 GPA in cybersecurity while leading the back line of the Maverick defense this season. The Omaha, Neb., native has started all 14 matches for Omaha and is second on the team with 1,225 minutes this season.
Veys appears on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the first time in his career with a 3.82 GPA in business administration. The Caen, France, native had dished out a team-high three assists on the season while making 13 appearances, including 11 starts for the Mavericks.
The three Mavericks and the other first-team Academic All-District 7 honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-American selections will be announced in early December.
