SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Matt Pile was named Summit League Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It marks the first weekly award of his career.
Pile hit 9-of-13 from the field on the way to 18 points, nine rebounds and a season-high-tying four blocks in Omaha's 81-78 win over South Dakota State to open Summit League play on Sunday. It was the Mavericks' 13th straight home win.
Pile's final block of the day sealed the win for Omaha as he deflected a potential game-winning layup by SDSU in the closing seconds. He is now sixth in school history for career blocks (85).
Pile shares this week's honor with Zion Young of Western Illinois.
