Mavericks Finish Ball State Tournament with Win

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Omaha women's golf team picked up a match play win in the final round of the Ball State Sunshine Invitational on Friday.
The Mavericks beat St. Leo 4-1-1 in the final round. Zora Gittens beat St. Leo's Isabel Nesteus, and Samantha Chong topped Louise Henningsson by the same score.
Sami Langford defeated Jasmin Pnaiser, 2 & 1 while Mandy Boyle defeated Rose Morrissette, 3 & 2.
Jordan York halved her match with the Lions' Synne Lauritzen. Omaha's only loss came when Hannah Hunke lost to St. Leo's Izzy Lawrence, 6 & 5.
The day began with the teams finishing off the semifinal round which was suspended on Friday due to darkness. The Mavericks tied Florida Atlantic, three all. Gittens beat Arielle Keating 6 & 5, Chong defeated Taylor Morgan, 2 & 1, and Boyle topped Jennifer Keim, one up.
In the other matches, York lost to Madison Heideman, 4& 2, FAU's Rosa Barnak defeated Hunke 4 & 3, and Amanda Leslie defeated Langford, 3 & 2.
The Mavericks finished with 1.5 points, going 1-1-1 and tying Florida Atlantic. James Madison won a three-way tie with St. Leo and Princeton to take the tournament championship. Each team finished 2-1-0. Â
The Mavericks return to action at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic in South Carolina on Feb. 24-26.
