Mavericks Come In Eighth at UTRGV

MCALLEN, Texas – The Omaha women's golf team finished in eighth place at the UT Rio Grande Valley Invitational on Tuesday.
The Mavericks closed the 54-hole tournament with a score of 319 in the final round to post a three-round total of 956. Sam Houston State won the event with a total of 891. Texas State was second at 899, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi was third at 909.
Samantha Chong led the Mavericks in scoring thanks to a final round of 76 that gave her a total of 237, good for a tie for 27th in the 80 player field.
Jordan York was second on the team and tied for 32nd overall with a final score of 238. She shot 78 in the final round.
Zora Gittens and Mandy Boyle finished in a tie for third on the team and in a tie for 41st overall with matching totals of 241. Gittens carded an 85 on day two while Boyle shot 80.
Sami Langford closed the scoring for UNO with a total of 256 that included a final round of 91.
Hannah Hunke, playing as an individual, shot 88 in the final round to finish at 254.
The Mavericks return to action at the Saluki Invite hosted by Southern Illinois on Sunday and Monday, March 24-25.
