Mavericks Seventh After First Round at Southern Illinois

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Omaha women's golf team is in seventh place after the first 18 holes of the Saluki Invitational on Sunday.
The Mavericks shot a team score of 329 on day one at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course. Host Southern Illinois leads the tournament with a score of 299. Indiana State is second at 305, and Evansville holds down third at 313.
Mandy Boyle and Sami Langford paced the Mavericks in scoring on the first day with matching rounds of 80. They are tied for 22nd in the field of 91 golfers.
Zora Gittens is third on the team and tied for 41st overall with an opening round tally of 84. She's one stroke ahead of teammate Samantha Chong who posted a card of 85 to put her in a tie for 48th.
Jordan York is tied for 55th after a round of 86 to open the event.
Hannah Hunke, playing as an individual, shot an 81 to put her in a tie for 30th.
The final round begins at 9 a.m. on Monday.
