MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Omaha baseball program suffered a 7-2 setback in a mid-week road trip at Kansas State Wednesday night.

Omaha falls to 0-2 in mid-week games and drops to 20-7-1 overall, while the Wildcats improve to 14-20.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Parker Smejkal recorded his fourth homer of the season for his 1-for-3 effort at the plate. Braden Rogers, Ben Palensky and Max Gamm also recorded a hit in the game.

Jackson Gordon was credited with the loss (0-1), while K-State's Caleb Littlejim improve to 2-1. Littlejim went 6.0 innings with four strikeouts on run and three hits allowed.

INSIDE THE INNINGS
K-State plated three runs in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly, a double and an Omaha fielding error. The Mavericks found the scoreboard in the top of the second after Palensky doubled. That preceded Gamm's ground-rule double that scored Palensky for the first Maverick run.

K-State's next three runs came off homers. In the bottom of the second, the pitcher Littlejim knocked a home run to left center that made it 5-1 Wildcats. Later on in the fifth, back-to-back Wildcat home runs scored the sixth and seventh runs. Omaha was able to find a little momentum off Smejkal's seventh-inning homer, but the gap was too much to overcome as Kansas State closed it out with a 7-2 win.
