Day One Results

MACOMB, Ill. – The Omaha track & field team took part in the first day of competition at the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday at Western Illinois.

Senior Anna Edet finished her UNO career with the Mavericks' best-ever mark in the hammer throw at the Summit Championship. She posted a distance of 168-07 to finish in 12th place. Edet finishes her career as the school record holder in both the hammer and weight throws.

Also in day one, sophomore Jaycee Schettler took part in the first four events of the heptathlon. She began with a lifetime best time of 16.48 in the 100 meter hurdles.

Schettler also put up marks of 4-07 ¼ in the high jump and 33-07 ¼ in the shot put. She finished the day with a time of 26.99 in the 200 meters which would have been a career best but was not wind-legal. She ended the day in 12th place.

The final three events of the heptathlon will begin at noon on Thursday from WIU's Hanson Field.

Also in the field, freshman Lori Vedder finished 12th in the javelin with a mark of 113-02.

Due to inclement weather, the women's 10,000 meters which was scheduled to be run on Wednesday night has been moved to 8 a.m. on Thursday. All other regularly scheduled events will follow.
