Women's Tennis Adds Gallegos For 2019-20 Campaign

OMAHA, Neb. – Head coach Adam Summitt announced the signing of Madison Gallegos Tuesday afternoon.
Gallegos joins the Mavericks as a junior transfer from Florida Gulf Coast. For the Eagles, she was named All-ASUN in doubles, All-ASUN Second Team in singles and also garnered All-Freshman team honors in her debut season.
"We are very excited to add Madison to our program," said Summitt. "She is what we are looking for in our athletes. She has a great attitude and personality that will make her fit in well with what we are doing here. Madison is a very fine player and her experience at FGCU will pay dividends for us down the road. I look forward to getting her on the court in late August with the rest of the team."
At FGCU, she was named ASUN Player of the Week after she claimed the Eagle's lone win against No. 17 Miami. Gallegos also notched six wins at No. 3 singles, while going undefeated at No. 4 and No. 5. She also clinched singles wins against Florida Atlantic and Minnesota. The win over Minnesota marked the first victory over a Big Ten school in program history.
Prior to FGCU, she attended Colorado Connection Academy where she was crowned the women's open singles champion at the City of Naples Tennis Championships. She also won the Southwest Florida Clay Court title as the top seed, and ranked as high as No. 88 nationally in her class.
