LaVigne Tabbed Summit League Defensive Player of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sophomore Margaret LaVigne earned her first Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honor, the league office announced on Monday.
LaVigne recorded one assist in two starts while playing the full 186 minutes and helping the Mavericks to a 2-0 sweep last week.
"I'm very happy for Margaret, who has been phenomenal over the course of the last month," said head coach Tim Walters. "I think this is the first of many awards for our back seven (Erin Bunker, Jaden Thiem, Taylor Gelling, Kaitlyn Guhl, Brylie Meyer and Sydney Randall). That group has given up six goals in the last nine matches against some very good competition and are full of confidence heading into conference play on Thursday.
The St. Louis, Mo., native dished out an assist to Laurin Mertz for the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Grand Canyon on Friday night.
The sophomore defender helped anchor the Maverick defense that didn't allow a goal in two matches last week.
Omaha opens Summit League play on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Western Illinois at 3 p.m. in Macomb, Ill.
