SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Omaha women's golf team has been picked to finish seventh in the annual pre-season Summit League coaches' poll.
The Mavericks received 19 points in the voting, falling just ahead of North Dakota (18) and just behind Purdue Fort Wayne (22).
Reigning champion Denver was picked to win the Summit again this season, garnering eight first-place votes and 64 points total. Oral Roberts was picked second with 53 points, and South Dakota State earned the other first-place vote and came in third with 49 points. The complete poll appears below.
Omaha junior Hannah Hunke was named a Golfer To Watch. The native of Snyder, Neb. appeared in all four events for the Mavericks in the fall, posting a stroke average of 81.3 and scoring in all four tournaments. She had a career-low round of 74 in the second round of the Rose City Collegiate on Sept. 30.
The Mavericks will open the spring season at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic hosted by College of Charleston on March 1-3. The Summit League Championship will be held on April 26-28 at Newton, Kan.
