OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha men's basketball program released its 2020-21 Summit League schedule in conjunction with the entire league slate, it was announced Wednesday.
The 16-game schedule has teams playing each other twice at one site, with games held on back-to-back days. Each team receives one bye week.
"Through all the options that were proposed, I was always a proponent of what our medical personnel felt was the safest option to get in the most games possible," head coach Derrin Hansen said. "This league schedule reflects that and is considered the safest way to play.
"Though our home fans won't see every team in the league, and we won't visit every campus, this schedule does give us eight home and eight away games, which is ideal. We've been working hard for our upcoming season and are excited to have something to prepare for."
League play opens Jan. 2-3 when the Mavericks pick up where they left off at the 2020 Summit League Tournament, welcoming Oral Roberts to Baxter Arena.
The following weekend, Omaha visits defending tournament champion North Dakota State (Jan. 8-9) in Fargo, N.D. The Mavericks return home Jan. 15-16 for a pair of games against preseason favorite South Dakota State.
Following a bye weekend, they return to competition at South Dakota (Jan. 29-30) then face Western Illinois at home (Feb. 6-7).
A weekend trip to league returner Kansas City follows, Feb. 12-13. The Mavericks then host North Dakota (Feb. 19-20) for their home finale. One final trip to Denver (Feb. 26-27) concludes the regular season.
Omaha's complete 2020-21 season schedule has not yet been finalized and will be released at a later date. All plans and schedules are subject to change.
