Lorentz Earns Second-Straight Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Honor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League office announced today that junior Natalie Lorentz earned her second-consecutive Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor after her performances over the weekend.
The St. Louis Park, Minn., native went 4-0 over the weekend as the Mavericks defeated Saint Louis, 5-2, as well as Northern Illinois, 4-3. With those wins, Omaha is 5-1 and undefeated at home this season. The Mavericks are also off to their best start in Division I program history and its best overall start since the 2008 season.
Lorentz and her team opened the weekend with Saint Louis, as Omaha won, 5-2. In that match, Lorentz and her doubles partner, Marie Kapelevich, earned the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot. In singles play, Lorentz won her match 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. In a 4-3 victory against Northern Illinois, Lorentz was able to pick up a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot in doubles play and recorded a three-set win at the third singles spot.
Omaha returns to action this Saturday, Feb. 15, at Kansas City. The first serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. (CT).
