Omaha Looks Towards Four-Game Slate at Snowbird Classic

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha baseball program gears up for the Snowbird Classic Feb. 20-23 in Port Charlotte, Fla.
QUICK HITS
• Omaha's four-game slate includes Indiana State twice, Chicago State and Dartmouth.
• The Mavericks opened the season with a three-game series against Northwestern in Glendale, Ariz., and took two of three games.
• Newcomer Chris Esposito is off to a hot start with a .400 batting average after his debut weekend with the team.
• The junior has four hits, three runs scored and a .417 on-base percentage through three games.
• Both Harrison Denk and Keil Krumwiede lead the team with five hits apiece and currently sit at a .385 batting average going into the four-game stretch.

THE FIELD
Omaha takes on Indiana State (0-3) Thursday and Saturday. The Mavericks battle Chicago State (0-4) Friday and Darmouth (0-0) Sunday. Indiana State opened the season at the Snowbird Classic last week and stays in Florida for this weekend as well. The Sycamores dropped a trio of games to Pittsburgh, Kent State and No. 24 Ohio State. Chicago State fell in all four games to Western Carolina last weekend, while Darmouth makes its season debut this week.
LAST TIME OUT
Omaha went 2-1 last weekend in its season-opening series against Northwestern Feb. 14-16 in Glendale, Ariz. In the first game, Omaha baseball opened the season with a 5-4 win over Northwestern behind a quartet of runs in the sixth inning Friday evening at Camelback Ranch. In game two, Omaha baseball used a fifth-inning surge and propelled itself over Northwestern, 9-2, for the series win over the Wildcats Saturday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.
The Mavericks baseball program dropped a 7-2 result in the series finale against Northwestern Sunday afternoon at Camelback Ranch. The Wildcats plated six runs in the fourth to build a lead and hand Omaha its first loss of the season.
