OMAHA, Neb. -- Head men's basketball coach Derrin Hansen announced Friday the hiring of Kevin Jewell as Omaha's Director of Men's Basketball Operations. Jewell replaces Jake Koch, who was promoted to assistant coach in June.

"I'm happy to announce the hiring of Kevin Jewell as our director of men's basketball operations," Hansen said. "He came highly recommended from his last two stops at Wisconsin and Creighton.

"Kevin's skill set, duties and responsibilities at Wisconsin, along with his energy and passion for the game, make him a great fit for our staff at Omaha. He's excited to help our student-athletes and also work alongside our current staff, and we're glad to have him joining our program."

Jewell previously served two years on the staff at Wisconsin as a graduate assistant (2018-20), assisting the director of basketball operations with scheduling and administrative duties. During his stint at UW, the Badgers won the 2020 Big Ten regular-season championship and earned a No. 5 seed for the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

Previously, Jewell was an assistant video coordinator (2017-18) and manager (2014-17) at Creighton, where he was part of the program's 2017 and 2018 NCAA Tournament berths.

Jewell graduated with his bachelor's degree in economics and financial planning from Creighton in 2018 and his master's degree in educational leadership and policy analysis from Wisconsin in 2020.
